SolidCraft
Pure-Rust parametric 3D CAD in your browser or on your desktop: constrained sketches, an editable feature timeline, and an MCP server agents can model through.
Project intro
SolidCraft is an open-source parametric 3D CAD application built in pure Rust: sketch with constraints, build solids on an editable parametric feature timeline, change a dimension and watch the model rebuild. It runs on the desktop, in the browser, and headlessly through a CLI, and AI agents can model through its built-in MCP server. Sketches support lines, arcs, splines and text solved by its own constraint solver with parameter-driven dimensions; features include extrude, revolve, sweep, loft, fillet, chamfer, shell, draft, holes, threads, patterns, mirror, split and combine; assemblies carry joints, motion studies and mass properties; sheet metal and plastic enclosure features are included. Files move as STEP, IGES, 3MF, STL, OBJ and glTF, with URDF export. Its own status assessment is restrained: early but usable for simple parts, with 75 of 76 public reference parts matching analytic or FreeCAD-computed volume, area, centre of mass and bounding box, and mesh modelling, T-splines, extended surfacing, PCB, simulation, CAM and 2D drawings deferred. Evidence note, stated honestly: SolidCraft's agent-driven origin is established by third-party reporting and the repository's own agent protocol, not by a first-person "vibe-coded" quote from the author. 3D Printing Industry (2026-10-19) reports the project and its sibling CADCraft "were both built around AI coding agents", each repository carries a CLAUDE.md framed as instructions for agents under an autonomous operation protocol, and SolidCraft estimates about 82 agent hours to a useful alpha. The DTO does not claim more than that. The project is independent and not affiliated with Autodesk, Dassault Systemes, PTC or Siemens, and is developed under clean-room contribution rules.
