Project intro

VibeDesk is a free, open-source, full-screen Windows desktop built around the real Claude Code CLI. The author's problem was mundane and real: with two or three Claude Code sessions running at once, a session would sit for fifteen minutes asking "Do you want to run `npm test`?" in a window nobody was looking at. VibeDesk fixes that with one dot per session in the dock: green while Claude works, yellow (pulsing) while it waits for you, blue when it is done. When Claude wants to run a command, a card appears with the command and four buttons — In terminal, Deny, Always, Allow — so one click keeps the session going instead of a hunt through terminals. The same card reaches your phone when paired with a 6-digit code over the local network by default, so you can approve from the kitchen. Every project gets a small "brain": Markdown notes with links between them, Obsidian-compatible, that Claude reads and writes through MCP, so decisions, pitfalls and conventions carry into new sessions instead of being rediscovered. VibeDesk also ships an MCP server for the desktop itself, so in any session you can say "sort my windows" or "zen mode on" and Claude does it, and it can open your local dev server in the preview window after starting it. Beyond the core loop there is Merge Studio (each parallel session on its own Git worktree and branch, with conflict prediction and checkpoints), a prompt queue, a watchdog for hung sessions, per-project cost tracking, and a calm layer of rain scenes, lofi radio and a focus timer. The author states it plainly: "And yes, most of the code was written by Claude Code itself, with me steering, testing and saying no a lot." Honest limits, as the author states them: Windows 10/11 only, no Mac or Linux; it runs the real `claude` command under your own Pro/Max plan or API key and does not replace or proxy it; and the installer is not code-signed yet, so Windows SmartScreen warns on install ("More info" then "Run anyway"). VibeDesk 2.0 was announced for November 1 in the article.
