Project intro

More-Info Popup Card is a custom card for Home Assistant that lets you build your own more-info dialogs — and the headline feature is that they look and behave 100% like the native ones. It reuses Home Assistant's own dialog, header, animations, the bottom sheet on phones, and Back-button and Esc handling, so in practice you cannot tell a native more-info from one built with these cards. A popup can replace any entity's more-info, so every tile or card that opens that entity shows your popup instead; history, settings and the overflow menu keep working inside it. You extend it with a sections-style grid — rename, filter and re-icon options, mix controls from different entities, chain popups together — and everything is edited in the native visual editor with drag and drop, copy/paste and undo. It installs through HACS as a custom repository and plays well with UIX and card-mod. The author's disclosure is refreshingly blunt: the project was vibe-coded — he described what he wanted, reviewed every step, and tested it on a real Home Assistant 2026.10, while an AI assistant wrote the code. The iteration speed tells the story: the repo went from creation to a polished, documented release in five days, with the docs directory alone carrying dozens of real screenshots. Note there is no standalone web demo — the card runs inside your own Home Assistant — so the project page here points at the GitHub repo where the docs and screenshots live.
