BananaPhone

BananaPhone is a desktop dictation app for IT support: speak in Portuguese, Spanish or English, and clean text lands wherever your cursor is. One hotkey (Ctrl+Shift+D) collapses the usual loop of translator, text editor and ticket system into a single step — Raw preserves your words, Professional rewrites them for the audience — and in Jira Mode, rough notes from a call become a customer-facing reply plus an internal worklog in one go.

It also teaches while you work: Coach mode catches your recurring language mistakes and explains them in your first language, with a rolling 30-day count, without ever polluting your clipboard or Jira note. And privacy is a setting, not a promise — the window states whether audio or ticket text leaves the machine: pick OpenAI or Gemini for speed, or stay fully offline with local Whisper and Ollama, where neither audio nor ticket text leaves the machine. Pasted emails, chats and tickets keep their line breaks, IDs, error codes and commands when translated.

Honest limits: BananaPhone is not a hosted app and has no online demo — it is a Windows/Linux desktop app installed from source or a prebuilt release, so the repository page is the demo link and there is nothing to try in the browser here. Only Portuguese (Brazilian), Spanish and English are supported; cloud modes need your own OpenAI or Gemini key; and on Wayland the in-process global hotkey is disabled, so Ctrl+Shift+D depends on the GNOME shortcut created by the installer.
