Project intro

Oja is for small sellers in Nigeria who post new stock on Instagram and WhatsApp all day. Upload one to three photos of a product, add a hint if you like, pick how you want it to sound, and it writes the whole listing: a title, an Instagram caption with hashtags, a longer description, a WhatsApp status with an Open in WhatsApp button, and a rough price guide in Naira.

The voice choices are the point. You can pick Clear English, Naija Pidgin, or Yoruba-flavoured English, so the listing sounds like how you actually talk to customers instead of a translated template. Every piece has a copy button, because the people using it are on their phones between customers.

It runs on open-weight vision models: hosted on Gemma 4 for speed, or on your own machine with Ollama if you would rather the photos never leave it. The author tested it with three real sellers, and all three said they would pay for it. The project is open source under MIT and has no GitHub stars yet.

Honest limits: the price guide is a model's estimate, never market data, and you should read every draft before posting. The free hosted model tier can hiccup — if it does, press again or open a saved example. Yoruba here means English with light Yoruba touches, not full Yoruba, and local mode on a CPU-only laptop is very slow.
