Kara and the Primal Torch
A torch that is your weapon and only light — a 90s pixel platformer built by a team of Claude Code agents for AI Browser Game Jam 5, playable in the browser.
Project intro
Kara and the Primal Torch is a 90s-style pixel-art platform action game built for AI Browser Game Jam 5 (theme: TORCH). Once every thousand years the Black Night falls; Kara's tribe has lost every fire but one — the Primal Torch, a living ember that floats at her side. It is her weapon and her only light: the more it burns her enemies, the less she sees. Firing drains the flame and its light shrinks with it; let go and it grows back. Burn too long and you fight in the dark. The jam build contains the Prologue: The Fallen Camp, about five minutes long, playable right in the browser with keyboard, mouse, gamepad, or touchscreen.
The "HOW IT WAS MADE" section is refreshingly blunt: "Almost everything in the game was generated with AI, directed and curated by Egobiian." The division of labor: "Code, stages and the design document: Claude Code by Anthropic, working as a small team of specialised agents (gameplay, interface, level design, pixel art, commits), with an automatic check that every stage can be finished with no impossible jump and no place to get trapped, and a scripted bot that plays the whole game before each release." Every graphic and the pixel font came from PixelLab; the engine is Godot 4.7, exported for the web. The devlog even documents how a team of AIs built the game.
