Project intro

Kiosk Days: St. Martin's Evening is a snack-kiosk management game set around Germany's St. Martin's Day: every year around 11 November, children walk the night streets carrying paper lanterns they made themselves, St. Martin rides a white horse at the front, a brass band plays, adults carry torches, and in the end the whole village stands in a circle around a big bonfire. After it all disperses, everyone wants a cup of hot cocoa and a sweet bread man called a Weckmann. You are the owner of the kiosk on the village square, and the big evening is five days away.

Those five days are filled with practical work: ordering from three suppliers, express delivery that is pricey but arrives at once, next-day delivery in the middle, and a cheap warehouse that takes three days, so you have to time orders to avoid running out. Right now the shop only stocks coffee, chips, candy, and drinks, but the villagers will want hot cocoa, so you need to buy a cocoa machine and put it in the shop. Pricing is something you have to feel out yourself: too cheap and you lose money, too pricey and customers turn away, and their reactions tell you whether you got it right.

When the day itself arrives, you stand behind the counter and sell in person: customers queue at the register, fresh goods go bad if they sit too long, so don't stockpile greedily. Once the parade has walked through the village and the bonfire is lit, whole families pour toward your door, and whether everyone gets what they want decides whether you take bronze, silver, or gold.

One heads-up: it plays in the browser, but the first load downloads about 35MB, so Wi-Fi is best on a phone. Saves live only in the browser, auto-saving at the end of each day and when you switch tabs, so a private window or clearing browser data wipes them. The game comes in English and German, and Chrome, Edge, or Firefox are recommended. This is one evening cut from the author's larger Kiosk Days game, whose full version has more goods, staff, and four seasons of content.
