Sloth Reads
Save articles, sleep on it: an open model reads your pile overnight and gives you a one-minute morning brief, then reads the good ones aloud.
Project intro
Sloth Reads is for the reading pile you keep meaning to get back to. You bookmark DEV posts, paste any link, or share from your phone, and overnight an open model reads them for you. By morning you get a one-minute brief of everything it read, instead of a folder full of guilt.
Each article gets a short summary, three takeaways, and an honest verdict: worth reading, skim it, or skip it, with one reason written for you rather than for a generic reader. The good ones you can listen to: a voice reads the article aloud while each spoken word is highlighted, you can tap any word to jump there, switch between five voices mid-sentence, and pick up later exactly where you stopped.
It also keeps score of the time you got back. A skipped article saves its whole reading time and a skimmed one saves all but a minute, shown as a running total and a per-day chart. You can search everything the sloth has read by meaning, not just by exact words, and the live site needs no sign-up. The project is open source and has 1 GitHub star.
Honest limits: this is a one-day hackathon build, and the voice feature runs on the author's budget. Visitors to the live site share a small daily voice allowance, so on a busy day listening may run out while reading still works. Running your own copy needs your own keys for a database, a model host, and a voice service.
