Neon Breaker
A synthwave brick-breaker in the browser: 12 fair levels, bosses every fourth level, and an upgrade shop fed by the data cubes you catch.
Project intro
Neon Breaker is a free synthwave brick-breaker you play in the browser, on phone or computer. You move a paddle, keep the ball alive, and break every brick — then the bricks start fighting back: some need two or three hits, some explode and take their neighbours with them, some slide back and forth, and the steel ones will not break at all. Every fourth level a boss drops in with a hit counter, and bosses shoot back — take a hit and your paddle shrinks for a few seconds.
Broken bricks drop data cubes. Catch them and spend them between levels on a wider paddle, a magnet, multi-ball, lasers, and an Aegis shield that saves you from one miss. The skyline changes as you go, from New York to Paris to Pisa, with the landmarks glowing behind the playfield, and an endless Neon Breaker Unlimited mode adds five more cities and tougher returning bosses. Everything is drawn in code and every sound is synthesised, all in one small file — no images, no downloads, no waiting.
How it was made is listed on the game's AI Browser Game Jam 5 page under "AI Tools Used": "Claude". It is the third game in the author's neon series, after Neon Hop and Neon Ascent, and its devlog on 2026-10-24 confirms it is live and free.
