Pumpkin Panic
Catch the candy, dodge the skulls: a fast Halloween arcade catcher made with Claude Code in a single afternoon.
Project intro
Pumpkin Panic is a quick Halloween arcade game you play right in your browser. Move your cauldron to catch falling candy, candy corn, pumpkins and stars, and dodge the skulls: each one costs a life. Grab hearts to heal, chain catches for a combo multiplier, and watch things speed up the longer you last. Controls are mouse, touch or arrow keys, and it works on phones too. The art comes from the author's Spooky UI pack: no image model was used. Instead, Claude wrote a Python + Pillow script that draws every sprite from shapes (ellipses, polygons, gradients), adds an ink outline and drop shadow, and renders at 4x before downscaling for clean edges; the same script produced the full UI kit of buttons, panels, bars, slots and 18 icons. The game itself is a single vanilla JS file on a canvas, with weighted random spawns, a combo multiplier, difficulty that ramps with time, and pointer, touch and keyboard input. For testing, Claude ran the game on a local server, drove it in the browser and simulated full rounds to check the game-over flow. An entry for AI Browser Game Jam 5, free in the browser.
