Project intro

When the typing app on his school's lab PCs started glitching, teacher Alexander Benesch skipped the IT ticket queue and did what teachers rarely get to do: he built his own. In a single evening, he vibecoded a clean, lightweight typing test application designed specifically for his students' assessment needs — and hosted it open-access on his blog so anyone can use it instantly on any device, free of distraction, ads, or institutional bureaucracy. Typing Test is deliberately simple: a focused speed-and-accuracy test with two default practice texts, the option to upload your own .txt files, and a printable statistics report when the test finishes — handy for classroom assessments. It runs entirely in the browser, so there is nothing to install on lab PCs. Note: the app's interface is currently available in German only. The author says a language selector may come later — 'no promises'. The workflow is simple enough to follow regardless. A textbook example of vibe coding solving a real, immediate problem: one evening, one teacher, zero IT tickets.
