Project intro

Owambe Desk is a tool for planning and running a big Nigerian wedding, where hundreds of guests come and two families have to agree on things before the day. It handles the three jobs that cause the most trouble: getting both families to approve the same program of events, collecting guests' aso ebi fabric payments before anything goes to the tailor, and running the day live when it inevitably falls behind schedule.

The rule running through all of it is simple: the AI agent can draft, rewrite and suggest, but only people can approve. An agent writes the first program draft from the couple's brief and both families' rules, each family approves or rejects it with a reason, and the program is only ready to print when both sides have approved the same version. Payments are marked paid only when the payment provider confirms them, never by someone clicking “paid” by hand, and on the day the coordinator taps Start and End as each part happens while guests check what is on now from the car park.

It is built on Sanity Workflows, so every approval, payment and re-timing lives in the same database as the content, with a Next.js public site and a coordinator console inside the Sanity Dashboard. The public site is deliberately built so you can see the system working without signing in: the How it works page reads the real workflow definitions and shows every run with its full history. The repository has no GitHub stars yet.

Honest limits: the demo wedding is fictional — Tolu Adeyemi and Emeka Okafor, Asaba, 12 December 2026 — and the tool has never been tried on a real wedding. The Sanity Studio and coordinator console need a project login, so visitors only see the public site; the “only the bride's family approves for the bride's family” rule is recorded rather than enforced without custom roles; invite translations sit unchecked until a fluent person switches them on; and payments run in the Bachs sandbox, not live money.
