Project intro

WICK is a puzzle-platformer with one mechanic doing four jobs: you are Wick, a candle-cat, and your wax is your health, your height and your light. It burns down all the time, faster when you run, and every jump costs a little, so you must reach the next torch before you burn down to a stub. Wax is also your only tool: drip it to build a blob — bridge a gap, make a step, rise up a wall, stack a pillar mid-jump — then soak it back up when you are done, because every ledge is a tradeoff between spending wax to get there and saving it to survive the trip. Across 15 hand-tuned levels, from a tutorial market street to the finale climb up the Castle Stair, hazards include wind gusts and golden tailwinds, rain drips, dark zones, cobwebs, burning fuses, pressure plates and doors, moving carts, lifts and ferries, and wax-stealing moths, with dynamic lighting, bloom, light shafts and weather over every level. It plays on keyboard, Xbox controller and touch (iPhone in landscape), runs on vanilla JavaScript, Canvas 2D and WebAudio with no engine, no libraries and no build step, and the author is open about how it was made: the game was built with Claude Code, which also wrote a reachability bot that plays every level with the real physics to prove each one is finishable with no soft locks, and generated the music and sound effects from open models. The full source, every prompt used and the test tools are published on GitHub. An entry for AI Browser Game Jam 5 (theme TORCH); the itch page rates it 4.2 out of 5 stars. Free in the browser.
