Project intro

Deis (Irish for opportunity, pronounced desh) is a swipe-to-apply job app for early-career people in Ireland. It shows a deck of real Irish jobs filtered for your level, languages and right to work, reading 55 employers' public job boards plus shared Google Jobs searches; code, not the model, hides roles you cannot or will not take. Swipe right and open-weight Gemma 4 writes a CV, cover letter and form answers tailored to the job, and every line traces back to a fact you confirmed: code drops anything Gemma cannot back up and shows what was removed on a Checks tab. It runs on your own model — on your laptop through Ollama (even with Wi-Fi off), on a free Google AI Studio key, or on a rented server — so an application costs about 0 euros. The web demo needs no real CV: try it as Aoife or Rahul, two fictional graduates applying for real Irish jobs. The desktop app (macOS, Windows, Linux) has a 14-day free trial and then costs 9.99 euros once. The author built Deis in a week, 13 to 18 October 2026, across 18 sessions with Claude Code: 89 commits, 364 tests, installers for three systems, and two sales at the time of writing (one from the first real user, one from a stranger). Job coverage is Ireland-only, which readers outside Ireland should know before trying it.
