Project intro

bit-cheer is a small tool for learning DJ beatmatching in your browser. No download, no sign-up — just open the page and practice: two decks on the sides, a crossfader in the middle, and a coach that tells you in real time whether your two kick drums are lined up. It deliberately wears a retro Winamp-style skin, so it feels like a throwback.

There are five ways to practice: start with two kick drums to learn the basics, then build your own loops, match tempos by ear with the BPM hidden, try Star mode where the tempo drifts, and finally step up to the Pro decks with real songs — 40 Creative Commons tracks built in, or upload your own songs or a whole folder. There is also an 8-lesson learning path and 4 training drills, and it works with a keyboard too; press the question mark in the app to see the keys.

Two things to know: first, the author made it desktop-only on purpose, so it will not work on your phone, and probably never will; second, this is a brand-new project — its repo still has 0 stars, it was only created on 26 October 2026, with a fresh push on 1 November — so some corners are still rough. Do not compare it with a polished DJ app.

It is for anyone who wants to learn DJing but has no gear: start by lining up two kick drums, train your ears, then move on to real songs. Your music and progress stay on your own machine and are never uploaded to a server.
