Project intro

ikandy is a music visualizer built like a video game — in the author's own words, it was made "using claude code" and is free on Steam for Windows. Instead of just drawing waveforms, it listens to whatever's playing on your PC — Spotify, browser tabs, even games — and paints it across every screen you own, live and in HDR. The numbers are wild for a one-author build: over 500 visual styles, including 440 MilkDrop presets running on its own engine, a director that hears bars and drops, a studio for creating new scenes, and a rig that performs them. And then it turns social: a shared moon where users hear their own music and paint the same sky, gravity-well ship battles (local or online), and dancing pets synced to your beat. The base version is free, with a Pro DLC for the heavy users. It's one of the most ambitious examples of a solo builder going from idea to a Steam release with an agent pair-programmer — and a reminder that "vibe-coded" can now include real-time graphics engines and multiplayer, not just CRUD wrappers.
