mDNS TUI Browser

See your local network from the terminal: printers, smart-home gear, dev servers — every broadcast service in one live list.

mDNS TUI Browser is a local-network device browser that lives in your terminal. It shows you at a glance which services are broadcasting on your home or office network — printers, smart-home devices, dev servers — all in one table. It is written in Rust with a ratatui terminal UI: no browser, no GUI to install, just one command and it runs. The author says in the repo's About section that it was vibe coded with opencode's free model. It has 15 stars on GitHub, 129 releases since January 2026, and the latest, v1.40.1, shipped on November 6. Open it and you get a live-updating service list: name, type, IP, port and TXT records, sortable by host, port or time, with instant keyword filtering. Drill into a service to see which network card discovered it; services your own machine broadcasts get a ◉ highlight. URLs inside TXT records open directly, and you can export the current state as JSON with one keystroke for other tools to use. Installing it is easy on any platform: AUR on Arch Linux, Homebrew on macOS, winget on Windows, Snap on Linux, or build from source with cargo. For tracking down a device whose IP you don't know, or debugging a local network, it beats pinging one address at a time. But it is a pure terminal tool: no graphical interface, no automatic setup, and the first run needs a service-type argument on the command line. It only discovers services on the network — it does not fix your network or connect you to a device; that part is still on you. And it is aimed at developers and admins who know their way around a network, not everyday users.
