Aurkut
A new site with the feel of the 2008 social network: scrapbooks, testimonials, fan ratings, and community chat rooms, still in beta.
Aurkut is a new website that recreates the feel of the old social network from 2008: personal profiles, friends, scrapbooks, communities, events, and photo albums, all with that slow, friendly way of hanging out from back then. It is for people feeling nostalgic who want to wander back in. There is plenty to play with: you can write on a friend's scrapbook, write testimonials for each other, and give people fan ratings like trustworthy, cool, and sexy. Communities have chat rooms, you can post with photos, mention people with @, and react with emoji. Holiday themes, birthday reminders, and a GTalk-style chat are all in there too. It is still in beta right now. Getting in means registering an account first, and you have to verify your email before you can really use it. Without logging in you can only see the login page and the update log. The posts, communities, and chats all need you to be logged in, so visitors cannot try them directly. To be clear: it has nothing to do with Google's old Orkut. It is just a fan remake that borrows the name and the style of the old Orkut as a tribute, spelled aurkut. The update log shows it was still being updated intensively from 30 October to 1 November 2026, so it is a project that is actively moving.
