Listune
A dark-themed music player you host yourself: local files, S3, and Google Drive all play — plus Soulseek search, downloads, and automatic tagging.
Listune is a music player built for personal use — open it on your phone and it works. No uploading your songs anywhere: it plays straight from a local folder, an S3 bucket, or Google Drive, and it can also search Soulseek and download songs. The interface is dark, with the basics covered: play, pause, skip, shuffle, and repeat, plus lock-screen controls. There's a live spectrum visualizer (the green bars from the old XP player), playlists, music tags, and audio fingerprinting that identifies untagged songs and fills in their names and covers automatically. The author posted it to Hacker News on 31 October 2026, saying he vibe-coded it himself. He built it because Spotify's free tier got too restrictive — only 6 skips an hour, no adding to the queue, and too many ads — and he just wanted a simple player that does enough. The repo was created in March 2026 and was still being pushed to on 31 October; it has 2 stars on GitHub. One thing to know: it only works if you bring your own music — there's no catalog included, so local songs and cloud songs are yours to connect. Soulseek search needs your account password, Google Drive needs an OAuth sign-in, and the demo page is just the product landing page — to actually use it you need to set up the backend yourself following the repo's instructions.
