Hold Still
Friday 4pm, one DEPLOY press from the weekend: drag an anxious monkey programmer's hand along a thin pipe — faster shakes more, stopping steadies him.
Hold Still is a two-minute little game: the hero is Jitters, an anxious monkey programmer, and on a Friday at 4pm he is just one press of the DEPLOY key away from the weekend. Between you and DEPLOY there is a thin code pipe, and your hand is his hand. There is just one move: hold the green dot and drag slowly along the pipe. The faster you drag, the more his hand shakes and the narrower the pipe gets; stop, and he slowly calms down; brush the pipe wall by accident and the build blows up. Slack pings will also startle him out of nowhere mid-run — the author notes, pointedly, that you cannot mute your mum's messages. One run is three pipes and three builds, playable with mouse, touch, or arrow keys, and it sounds better with the audio on so you can hear his heartbeat. Nothing in the visuals or sound uses generative models: every picture, including the monkey, is drawn in code on a canvas, and every sound effect is synthesized live in the browser — no generated images, no generated music. Be clear about the size: this is a jam piece, about two minutes in total, and then it is over; the author has also released the monkey as a free asset, so you can use him in your own games if you like. There are no stars to check on itch, so no star number is given here; the same author has no other project in this cycle, so there is no same-author clustering issue.
