HackerBooks
Every book Hacker News commenters keep recommending, in one searchable shelf — each title links back to the comments that mentioned it.
Project intro
HackerBooks is a bookshelf built from Hacker News itself: it collects the books that HN commenters keep bringing up in discussions, and puts them in one place you can search and browse. The live site lists 15,766 mentioned books, reshuffled into a fresh "Today's shelf" every day.
Every book links back to the comments that mentioned it, so a recommendation never stands alone — you can see who brought it up and in what conversation. You can rank by score, filter by topic (from Fiction to Programming to Economics), by publication decade, or by when a book was first mentioned.
That makes it a different kind of book finder: instead of an algorithm guessing your taste, you follow the taste of a community you already read. If you keep seeing the same title pop up in threads you trust, this is where you check how often, and why.
One honest caveat, stated by the site's own author: it counts mentions, so praise and criticism both count. A book with a lot of mentions is a book people talk about — not necessarily a book people love. The data is compiled offline and refreshed periodically, not monitored in real time.
