IPVIO Stream
A free, open-source IPTV player for Android TV: skip intros, resume where you left off, TV guide — bring your own playlist and watch.
Project intro
IPVIO Stream is a free, open-source IPTV player for Android TV, Google TV and Fire TV, built to be driven with a remote. It provides no channels or content of its own — you add your own playlist (an Xtream Codes account or an M3U address). What plays, and where it comes from, is entirely your own stuff.
The home screen looks like a proper streaming service: a big featured carousel, Continue Watching, today's Top 10, and recommendations based on what you've watched. Movies and shows get detail pages, ratings, trailers, resume playback and picking episodes and quality. Live TV has a program guide, catch-up and reminders. The player skips intros and outros, auto-plays the next episode, remembers each title's audio track and subtitles, and can sort ratings in IMDb, Rotten Tomatoes or TMDB order.
The project has 79 stars on GitHub. The repo was only created on November 5, and the 1.1 update was already committed on November 6 — development is moving very fast. Installing it is easy too: download the APK directly, or type a short numeric code into the Downloader app on your TV. No sign-up, no account.
A few limits up front: it's only a player with no content sources of its own — you have to find your own playlist and you're responsible for whether it's legitimate. It has just 9 commits and one release so far, it's very early days and long-term maintenance hasn't been proven over time yet. And it only targets Android TV-style devices — phones and computers aren't what it's for.
