项目介绍

web-ocean is a real-time ocean renderer that runs entirely in the browser with no game engine — just WebGPU, WGSL shaders and FFT-based waves, shipped as a single self-contained ~62KB HTML file. You get a floating camera over open water: click to look around, WASD to move, and the whole scene — sun glitter on the swell, layered clouds, horizon haze — is computed live on your GPU. What makes it a vibe-coding landmark is how it was built. The author's brief to Claude Code (Opus 5.5) was essentially: "give me the most realistic water you can produce in WebGPU with a floating camera," and the architecture and implementation were left to the model. The quality loop is the interesting part: the agent checked its own work by rendering screenshots in headless Chrome and handing them to separate critic subagents for review, so it was never grading its own output. The author stayed in the loop on judgment calls — his feedback on the clouds led to swapping volumetric clouds for flat layers and later fixing their edge aliasing. The result landed hard: 819 stars and 127 forks within five days of the repo going public in mid-October 2026, on a demo that is literally one page of shader code you can open at ocean-noniv.vercel.app. It is less a product than a proof of how far an agent can get on a well-specified visual brief when it is forced to look at its own output.
