项目介绍

Battle Drones is a Command & Conquer-style real-time strategy game that runs entirely in the browser — on desktop and phones — and it was barely touched by human hands. Blogger and programmer Simon Willison built it in 12 major iterations with coding agents (mainly Claude Code), racking up 321 agent-made commits since July. His own verdict on the process: "Battle Drones is heavily vibe coded — I've reviewed almost none of the code, and it's built in a language (TypeScript) that I've hardly used myself." The game itself is the real thing, not a tech demo. Nine buildings, seven ground vehicles, six aircraft, three infantry types, six maps across five biomes plus a random map generator, fog of war, crate drops, skirmish and Last Stand survival modes, daily challenges, ranks and medals — and even a mode where two LLMs play each other while you watch. The signature party trick is multiplayer between two nearby devices that sync game state through sound, no server required. The most interesting detail is how it got good: Willison told Claude to "Make it a LOT more fun," and the agent ran over a thousand AI-vs-AI simulated matches overnight to rebalance every unit, cutting undecided 25-minute games from 14% to 0.9%. It's a live demonstration of where agents genuinely shine — not writing the first draft, but grinding through the thousand iterations a human would never bother to do.
