Skillkeel Starter

Skillkeel Starter is a free, MIT-licensed Claude Code plugin that stops the agent from doing the things you would regret: three guard hooks plus eight small skills for the boring parts of repo work. guard-bash blocks destructive shell commands before they run — rm -rf /, git push --force without --force-with-lease, git reset --hard, DROP DATABASE, ORM wipes and terraform destroy — and secret-scan blocks any file write containing an AWS, OpenAI, Anthropic, GitHub or Slack key, a private key, a JWT or a hard-coded password. session-start hands Claude a two-line brief (git state plus skill list) at the start of each session.

The eight skills cover commit messages, PR descriptions, CLAUDE.md init, changelogs, README refreshes, dependency audits, secret audits in git history and test-gap finding — each one reads the diff or the repo first instead of guessing. What sets the plugin apart is its testing discipline: the hooks carry 89 unit tests, every skill ships with a fixture repo, expected results and the unedited transcript of a real Claude Code run, and a 105-case tamper corpus shows what the guards catch and what slips through. The current release is v0.1.14 (21 October 2026), with evals 8 of 8 on Claude Code 2.1.306.

Honest limits: Skillkeel Starter is not a hosted app and has no online demo — it is a plugin installed inside Claude Code (or via npx), so the repository page is the demo link and there is nothing to try in the browser here. The author is explicit that guard-bash is a guard, not a sandbox, and the tamper corpus documents what it does not catch; the paid Kit (five more hooks, 24 more skills) is a separate product, and this listing covers only the free Starter.
