Droichead (Irish for 'bridge') is a calm, private career navigator for people whose work is being reshaped by AI, built for Ireland's multilingual workforce. A 90-second tap-first check-in — role, industry, experience, skills you enjoy, how you feel about AI, hours per week — leads to a Pulse page of real articles from the last seven days next to live CSO Ireland unemployment figures, roles to grow into ranked by how close they are to what you already do, and an honest gap analysis that leads with what you have before what you need to build. Pick a goal date and you get a phased, week-by-week plan with a portfolio project, a weekly streak, an .ics calendar export, and a printable wall planner with QR codes that open each course from paper. Everything runs on Google's open-weight Gemma 4 — in the cloud, or fully offline on a laptop through Ollama — in seven languages (English, Gaeilge, Polski, Ukrainian, Spanish, German, French), with no accounts and no database: your CV is read in your browser and never uploaded. The design rule is 'the model picks, the code owns the facts': every course comes from a 32-item human-checked catalogue referenced by id only, so an invented course link simply disappears, and every response is validated against a schema. It was built solo in one four-hour Claude Code session on 2026-10-03 at Hacktoberfest Hack Day Dublin, where it won Best Open-Source AI Project, and the author is upfront about its limits: the Gaeilge has not had a native speaker's review, match percentages are Gemma's estimates rather than a validated score, and live jobs skew to remote roles.
