WhatDatBird

A worldwide bird photo-identification quiz — click any spot on the map and test your bird ID skills.

WhatDatBird is a bird identification quiz that works anywhere in the world. Pick a location on the map — or tap the crosshair to quiz where you stand — and it generates questions from live GBIF/iNaturalist data. Distractors come from the nearest related species, with four difficulty levels and an audio mode for call-based quizzes. Wikipedia identification tips and a local leaderboard round it out. The author says it was "Built entirely with Claude Code." The project was pushed two days before this listing and the GitHub Pages site is live. A lovely education app that makes biodiversity data playable — built with zero stars but very much alive.

Nature by Friends

The app that sends kids outside instead of asking for one more tap — a storybook nature adventure for ages 6–10.

Nature by Friends is an outdoor nature adventure for children aged 6–10, built for the DEV Hacktoberfest Open-Source AI Challenge “Touch Grass” week in October 2026, and live right now on its Render deployment. Its premise flips the attention economy on its head: “Most apps want one more tap. I built one that sends kids outside.” The guiding rule is woven into every screen: “Become a friend, not an owner.” There is no catching, no collecting, no points, streaks, or timers. A child succeeds by noticing something quietly, from a respectful distance. Every mission follows the same loop: meet one of 20 hand-drawn nature friends (frog, snail, moss, mushroom, crow and more), take on a tiny mission, respect its boundaries, put the phone down with a trusted adult, reflect, and keep the memory in a nature journal. Not finding anything is a valid ending — the app really says: “That’s completely okay — friends don’t always show up.” Core modules: the Nature Garden (20 illustrated friends with real facts, habitats, safe-observation tips and things-not-to-do lists), the Listening Corner with Sound Safari (hear a creature’s call, guess who made it) and The Quiet Minute (a guided outdoor listening exercise), the Friendship Web (37 hand-written connections linking the 20 friends with the sun, a pond, fallen leaves and soil, explored through an interactive map), Tiny Nature Stories (20 short stories mixing imagination with real facts), a nature journal stored in the browser’s localStorage with “then and now” return-visit comparisons, and a plain-language grown-ups page covering outdoor safety and privacy — including a delete-all-my-data option. It is genuinely vibe-coded: author Ansh Varshney writes in his dev.to build log, “I built Nature by Friends during this challenge week with Claude Code as my pair programmer, working in the terminal and desktop app.” The stack is Next.js, React, TypeScript, Tailwind CSS and MongoDB (curated profiles live in MongoDB Atlas with a bundled fallback). The open-source repo carries 59 Vitest tests covering the safety rules and model-output sanitizer, with CI running lint, type checks, tests and a production build on every push. AI is used sparingly and safely: an optional photo helper lets a grown-up ask Gemma 4 for a cautious identification guess — always worded “might be”, with GPS/EXIF metadata stripped on-device before upload, and risky finds (wasps, spiders, mushrooms) triggering a “tell a trusted adult” message. Safety advice always comes from hand-written curated content, never from the model. ElevenLabs text-to-speech narrates all 20 profiles, missions and stories, since not every 6–10 year old is a confident reader. All 20 nature friends are original hand-built SVG characters — no stock images.

PAPERS

Free past-paper library for Pakistani students: 29,737 practice questions across 26 boards, plus a most-repeated-questions ranking.

PAPERS is a free past-paper library for Pakistani students: 29,737 practice questions across 26 exam boards, entry-test prep (NUST, FAST, ECAT, GIKI, NAT), and 11,142 AI-checked MCQ answers. A "most repeated questions" ranking surfaces the questions that keep coming back year after year, per board and class. It may be the most honestly vibe-coded project we have featured. The "How it was built" page states plainly: "I didn't write a line of it," adding "Hosted on Vercel, with Claude Code doing most of the setup" — and publishes all 59 Claude Code conversation messages from the 3-day build (October 2–4, 2026). An awesome-vibe-coded-apps listing summarizes it as "Built in one day with Claude Code."

Science Globe

An interactive 3D map of science built with Claude Opus 5.5: explore 171 institutes and labs, drag the timeline from 1500 to 2200.

Science Globe is a three.js/WebGL globe that turns the history of science into something you can touch: 171 research institutes, labs, observatories and spaceports plotted as glowing points, with collaboration lines between them and four toggleable layers — fundamental science, information technology, ecology & planetary engineering, plus live orbital data from CelesTrak. Drag the timeline from 1500 to 2200 and discoveries play out as a moving feed, with discovery digests generated by DeepSeek. Click any glowing point and everything else fades out, showing you who that institute works with. The author's showcase post says it plainly: "Built a 3D globe with three.js and WebGL using Opus 5.5." A rare case where an AI-built data visualization is genuinely worth exploring rather than just admiring.

Tone Garden

A gentle browser game for practicing Mandarin tones: guess the pinyin tone, compare characters across tones, no signup needed.

Tone Garden is a gentle little browser game for practicing Mandarin tones: one word at a time, you recall its tones, check your answer, and keep growing. Three input styles are supported (bái sè, bai2 se4, 24), and a review mode lets you compare individual characters across all five tones on the same pinyin syllable — 1,359 practice words, shuffled every session, no signup required. Author Scott Cole's own note on his blog (September 9, 2026): "NOTE: this is a Codex-generated blog post and app" — the third entry in his series of small vibe-coded apps, live and playable right now. 中文导读:在浏览器里练普通话声调的小游戏:看词猜拼音声调(三种输入方式),附按音节跨声调比对汉字的复习模式,无需注册;作者博客原话注明为 Codex 生成。

PathWise.AI

AI career discovery for students: skills assessment, career analytics, and an ATS resume builder.

PathWise.AI is an AI career guidance platform aimed at students who get pushed into generic paths — "go into nursing, engineering, or law" — without any real self-discovery. It combines a psychometric skills assessment, AI career discovery, career analytics with salary trends, an ATS-optimized resume builder, a curated learning hub, and a tech stack guide with personalized roadmaps. The full nav is live on the deployed site: Home, Discover, Skills Quiz, Compare, Resume Builder, Resources — a genuinely complete product surface, not a landing page with a promise. The README (niltonnovele/trilho-academico) states it was "Built using the Bolt no-code platform" and "created during a 48-hour hackathon sprint focused on building scalable, impactful solutions for young people in Africa," built by student Team CodeX. Two things make it worth showcasing: it is built for Nigerian students by Nigerian students, and it kept growing after the hackathon — the deployed build now carries 500+ career paths, success stories, and university partners. An education-sector case of vibe coding delivering a real product to real users. curated by the VibeFix editors

Web3 Sabi

A beginner-friendly Web3 learning app: plain-language lessons with AI-generated illustrations, voice read-aloud and an AI tutor for questions.

Web3 Sabi is a beginner learning app that explains Web3 in plain language — "Sabi" means "to know" in Nigerian Pidgin. Features: short lessons on Web3 basics; "Use Image" generates a simple illustration for each lesson; "Use Audio" reads the lesson aloud with an AI voice; an AI Tutor answers learner questions in simple language. The technical chain: the app sends each request through a Supabase edge function to an n8n workflow, which calls Orbio AI for the tutor's text answers, lesson images and voice, then sends the result back. Two live demos are up (Vercel primary + bolt.host backup). GitHub: 0 stars, created and updated 2026-09-21.

Meanwhile Map

Pick a date, scroll the world map, see what else was happening at the same time

Meanwhile Map answers a question history books struggle with: when you read about an event, what else was happening in the world at the same time? Pick a date and a time window, scroll the world map, and see contemporaneous events — OpenHistoricalMap period borders plus Wikidata events with Wikipedia popups. The whole thing is a single fully client-side static page. Author 29b launched it on Show HN, describing it as "vibe coded as an experiment". Created 2026-10-01, last push 2026-10-05, MIT — a delightful example of a one-page vibe build with real scholarly utility.

CustomNameTrace

Free custom handwriting tracing worksheets for kids — vibe-coded in 8 days with Cursor and Codex

CustomNameTrace is a free tracing-worksheet generator for young kids. Type a child's name, a sight word, a string of numbers, or even a parent's name and phone number, pick a tracing style — dotted, outline, fade, rainbow, trace-copy-write, or blank practice — and get a print-ready PDF in seconds. The same rendering engine powers 23 worksheet types and a library of 14,380+ ready-made worksheets, from Dolch and Fry sight words to math facts and logic puzzles. Teachers get a Batch Mode: paste a class list of up to 30 names and receive one combined PDF, one personalized worksheet per student. Everything is free with no account and nothing stored — the site states that nothing typed is ever saved or logged. The build story is the point: the author documented it in a YouTube video titled "I Vibe Coded a SaaS App in 8 Days Using Cursor & Codex (Launch Day)", stating he "built and launched CustomNameTrace.com in just 8 days using AI coding tools like Cursor AI and OpenAI Codex." Eight days from idea to a shipped, revenue-capable SaaS is exactly the kind of turnaround vibe coding promises — and this one is a genuinely useful tool for parents and classrooms.

Earth - The making of home

Scroll through 4.54 billion years of Earth history on a photorealistic 3D globe — vibe-coded in about 30 minutes

Earth — The making of home is an interactive 3D website that lets you scroll through 4.54 billion years of Earth's history on a photorealistic globe: drag to orbit, scroll to travel through time, from formation through first oceans, Snowball Earth and Pangaea to today. Sections cover The Planet, Civilization, Orbit, Moon, Earthquakes, Oceans, the Solar System and even live Air Traffic. The build story is the headline. On the author's builtbyvibe.dev project page: “It only used 4% of my weekly limit (20x plan)... ‘Create an interactive web platform visually showing the history of the earth, how it changed over billions of years, and a timeline showing how humans spread throughout the earth’... Surprisingly it finished in like 30 minutes.” The builtbyvibe announcement credits the AI tool Astra. The author's GitHub repo (ethanplusai/earth-moon-solar) saw a push on 2026-09-10. Visual polish is exceptional for a half-hour build: real imagery blended with realtime 3D, a geological timeline with animated surface changes, and cinematic camera work — a natural fit for teaching and science communication. curated by the VibeFix editors

curated by the VibeFix editors

SkinLab

A dermatologist's 3D biophysical skin model — 1.2M voxels, cut it, laser it, watch scars heal, built in 5 days with Claude Code.

SkinLab is a browser-based biophysical model of human skin built by dermatologist Magnus Lynch. His words on how it happened: "Built with Claude Code over five days." (He has form here — a year earlier he posted a skin-cancer quiz he "vibe coded with Gemini 2.5 Pro.") The model is serious. A 40 × 40 × 9.75 mm skin block rendered from 1.2 million voxels, running entirely in WebGL with three.js and no backend. Every constant comes from published papers. You can press the skin and watch it deform, cut it with a scalpel at a chosen depth, punch a cylindrical wound, ablate without depth limit, fire a laser in an array of microcolumns, then scrub a slider and watch the scar heal over a full year — granulation advancing from the walls, the scar contracting and pulling surrounding skin in, flat, hypertrophic or atrophic scar types behaving differently. The detail that elevates it beyond a toy: a "Validate model" button runs five scenarios against published behavior and clears the block, and a "Scar report" scores your scars in the terms the literature uses. It is a genuine research-grade simulation, built in five days by a doctor who does not write production code, and it runs in any modern browser. curated by the VibeFix editors

Academic Emergency Room

An emergency room for your GPA: triage exam disasters and get a realistic, prioritized recovery plan.

Academic Emergency Room (AER) treats falling behind like a medical emergency — because that's what it feels like. Tell it what's on fire (exam tomorrow, half the syllabus untouched, five deadlines colliding) and how much time you actually have, and it hands you a realistic, prioritized recovery plan instead of generic "study harder" advice. The app runs a four-step flow: Assess your situation through a quick triage wizard, get an AI-style diagnosis of severity and time deficit, receive a phased recovery plan that ranks topics into Must Know / Should Know / Ignore For Now, then work through timed "missions" with a survival-mode countdown timer. Damage Control gives an honest verdict per deadline — do this first, squeeze in later, or ask for an extension (it even drafts the extension email). Everything runs in demo mode with pre-filled data, no sign-up needed, in a bold Gen-Z emergency-room aesthetic. The maker built the entire thing with Lovable, and the polish shows: it's one of the more complete student tools to come out of the vibe-coding scene. curated by the VibeFix editors

KE-FORGE LEARN

Upload any PDF and get an adaptive 1–5 day study plan with quizzes, videos, and an "I'm lost" button.

KE-FORGE LEARN is an adaptive AI tutoring app built for one job: turning any PDF into a study plan you can actually finish. Upload a document or paste a topic, and it splits the material page by page, then builds a daily plan across 1 to 5 days — light and foundational on day one, intense but never overwhelming by day five. As you learn, the plan adapts. Each day mixes embedded videos with quizzes that reinforce what you just read, and an "I'm lost" button is always one tap away for an instant plain-language explanation when a concept doesn't click. A progress analytics view keeps your momentum visible. It's a small, focused tool by indie maker Kolajo Enoch (KE-FORGE), who built the whole thing with Lovable — a clean example of vibe coding aimed at a real student pain point rather than a demo toy. curated by the VibeFix editors

Moye

Timer-free learning for kids with ADHD or dyslexia: one spoken question at a time, a patient honey badger mascot, and difficulty set by plain readable code.

Moye is a free learning app for kids with ADHD or dyslexia — and it does the opposite of almost every learning app out there. Most learning apps run on a clock and a scoreboard: stall on a question and you get a red flash, a buzzer, a broken streak. Moye shows one question at a time, read aloud on request, with no timers anywhere. A wrong answer earns a hint and a patient honey badger named Moyin, and the score never drops. The build is for a friend: a 4-year-old also named Ayodeji, made for the Hacktoberfest Weekend Challenge "Build for a Friend". Under the hood the part the author is proudest of is that no model runs inside the app at all. Difficulty is decided by small readable functions — Bayesian Knowledge Tracing in `lib/mastery.ts` updates how likely a child is to know a skill after each answer, then moves them to an easier or harder tier. The 90 questions are validated as JSON with zod, 159 tests pass, and there's a `WHAT_IS_REAL.md` that explicitly states what isn't done (e.g. no efficacy claims). The accessibility details are real work, not decoration: a comfort panel for OpenDyslexic font, letter spacing, text size, calm motion and voice speed; voices in English, Nigerian Pidgin, Yoruba, Hausa and Igbo; a plain-language weekly summary for grown-ups; honey-drop rewards with a daily cap; and the whole thing works with Wi-Fi off, installs to a phone's home screen, keeps progress in local storage with zero third-party requests. Aligned to Nigeria (UBE), England (NC), US (Common Core), India (CBSE) and Australia (AC) curricula — and deliberately built with an AI coding agent on opencode, the same opencode challenge judges will recognize.
